Hanover's Erika Jervis placed eighth in the 400-meter dash in the HCAC indoor track meet with a time of 1:05.00.
Rector and Feldman were Fabulous
No matter what team you support or who your child is, if you were at the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference men's and women's track track and field meet at Defiance, Ohio, you had to be impressed with the accomplishments of Hanover's Joe Feldman and Joe Rector.
Feldman set a new conference, facility, and school indoor record in the 400-meter dash with a time of 49.5 seconds. He also helped the Panthers place second in the conference in the 4 X 200-meter relay with a time of 1:31 with Gavin Alexander, Darrell Payne, and Enrico Franchini). Their time broke their own school record.
Feldman was involved in one of the most exciting races of the meet. In the 4 X 400 he ran a fast anchor leg to help the Panthers place second by a whisker to Rose Hulman. Rose won with a time of 3:25.46. Rose won with a great lean at the finish line with a time of 3:25.44! Feldman was joined on the school-record 4 X 400 team by Alexander, Payne, and Andrew Strong.
Joe Rector was a double winner. He placed first in a facility record 15:14.15 in the 5,000-meter run and also placed first in the 3,000 in 8:58.51.
Arbaugh Sets Record
Hanover's Ashlee Arbaugh helped to lead the Panthers' women's team to a fourth place finish in the HCAC. She set a conference record in the shot put with a toss of 42 feet, 2.75 inches. Teammate Savannah Hubbard also represented her school well by placing fourth in the 60 hurdles at 9.78 seconds, first in the long jump at 5.23, and second in the triple jump at 10.5.
